ASPCA Shelter Cat Gives Hugs

Jeff is a people person.

When the ginger cat sees a human, he has to hug them.

Jeff’s special talent was discovered when he was moved to the ASPCA from a different New York City shelter. Soon after arriving, the 4-year-old tabby started reaching for anyone who opened his cage.

Turns out these moves weren’t part of an escape attempt, just an affectionate cat trying to show a little love to the people who care for him.

Now the ASPCA volunteers make a point of stopping by Jeff’s cage so the kitty can reach out, wrap both paws around their heads and give them a squeeze.

While the staff adores Jeff’s hugs, they hope he can soon find a forever family to share them with — ideally in June, which is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month. To learn more about Jeff and other adoptable felines, visit the ASPCA.
